A GLIMPSE INTO THE PAST

ABOUT THE VENUE

The fascinating story behind the Teegarden House is what makes it so special to the community.

1850

DR. ELI TEEGARDEN

Dr. Eli Teegarden traveled all the way from Ohio to Yuba City during the Gold Rush. He set up his medical practice in Marysville and had his house shipped from Ohio to San Francisco. From there, it traveled up the Sacramento and Feather River to reach Marysville. Once his house was built, Dr. Teegarden started his political career in Yuba and Sutter Counties. Eventually, he was elected to the State Senate.

1942

THE MAYOR'S HOME

The old house became the home of a former Yuba City Mayor, Perry Mosburg, and his family. In World War II, Mosburg provided shelter for soldiers from Camp Beale in the basement and attic. Today, his daughters Barbara and Joyce still live in Yuba City!

2005

THE PAINES

Cindy and Jerry Paine, who were raised in Yuba City, had lots of fond memories associated with the house. They decided to buy the property and, after making some changes, turned it into a popular place for hosting events. They also used it for holding classes and community gatherings.

2020

THE REOPENING

The Teegarden Event Center, previously owned by Cindy Paine, has now been passed on to Russ Zullo and Camille Costello. With its doors reopened, it has regained its status as Yuba City's favorite event center. It is the top destination for celebrating special moments and hosting community gatherings. Now, you have a chance to be a part of its special history.
